Three hurricanes are currently raging in the sea surrounding Hawaii.

Hurricane Ignacio, which is a Category 2, is moving eastwards north of Hawaii and looks set to miss the Pacific island.

Woman invents tent for refugees which can collect rainwater and store solar energy

This collapsible tent can collect rainwater, store solar energy could just change the lives of millions of refugees around the world.

The tent, which was inspired by materials found in nature and traditional cultural activities such as weaving, has a double-layer surface to keep out wet and cold weather while allowing cool air in during summer.

The top of the tent collects rainwater which is then filtered down the sides, but the water can be drawn back up through a process called thermosiphoning if the inhabitant wants to shower.

Lorries without new safety features to be banned from London to protect cyclists

Lorries without safety equipment to protect cyclists and pedestrians will be banned from London’s roads from today.

Under Britain’s first safer lorry scheme, heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in the capital must be fitted with side guards to help prevent cyclists being dragged under the wheels in the event of a collision.

They must also have a certain type of mirror which will give the driver a better view of bicycles and pedestrians.

London Mayor Boris Johnson hailed the scheme as a life-saver.

Seven of the eight cyclist deaths in the capital this year have involved HGVs.
