The government have finally brought in a charge for single use carrier bags – I couldn’t be more delighted. I’m completely baffled by the fuss that some people are making about the new 5p charge for the bags.

Surely it’s a no-brainer. Plastic bags are dreadful for the environment: sitting in landfill for years, littering our streets, causing harm to wildlife and their habitats and polluting our oceans.
