The number of women and girls travelling from the UK to Syria to join ISIS has risen – after figures revealed that 56 fled to the war-torn country last year.
The new figures have led counter-terrorism officials to say that they are ‘deeply concerned’ – as many women are believed to be unaware that they will probably never be able to return home.
Previous figures released in July showed that 43 females were thought to have fled from the UK to Syria in the previous 12 months.
But latest figures have now revealed that some 56 girls and women were… Read the full story

Don’t wear the movie headphones, avoid the coffee and be careful when it comes to locking the toilet door.

The car was coated with ice after it was parked near Lake Erie in New York on Monday – in the face of freezing temperatures.
Strong winds pushed waves of icy waters from the lake and onto the car, which then combined with the inclement climes to give the car an unexpectedly frosty makeover.

Star Wars truly is intergalactic, it seems, as a star appeared to emit a golden ‘lightsaber’ into space some 1,350 light years from Earth.
In an image released from the European Space Agency, jets of ‘energised gas’ appear to shoot in opposite directions from the star’s poles, appearing like the doubled bladed Lightsaber favoured by Darth Maul in the Phantom Menace.
Giving a more literal, and scientific explanation to the phenomenon, the European Space Agency said: ‘As they [the jets] stream way from one another at high speeds, supersonic shock fronts develop along the jets and heat the surrounding gas… Read the full story

Christmas is known as a time for giving – and one family are providing you with the gift of controlling their festive lights.
Jon Woods is an IT expert from Alaska, and has rigged up the lights on his family home so that strangers online can turn them on and off at their own will.
And while that sounds like it could get pretty annoying with the non-stop flashing light, it’s the sixth year that Jon and his family have handed the controls over to the internet.
He wrote: ‘You would not believe the number of people who sit for hours and turn the lights off and on.’
You’re not kidding!
