Here’s what you need to know about this year’s Nobel Prize winning scientists

The Nobel Prize for physiology or medicine has been awarded to three scientists for their pioneering work on parasitic diseases.

Irish scientist William C. Campbell and Japan’s Satoshi Omura won the prize for their development of a therapy against infection caused by roundworm parasites.

They shared the honour with Youyou Tu, the first Chinese medicine laureate – who discovered a novel therapy against malaria.
