| blog, L&B World, World | December 25, 2015

More than 100 people have been killed while queuing up to fill their cooking gas cylinders in time for Christmas in Nigeria.

People in the mostly Christian area of Abuja were lined up at a crowded industrial gas plant when the tanker providing the gas exploded, sparking a huge inferno.

After firefighters put out the blaze in Nnewi, a reporter for AP counted the charred remains of more than 100 bodies.

Witness Emeka Peters, 36, said the fire started around 11am when a tanker truck that had just dropped off fresh gas at Chikason Group Gas plant drove off without waiting to cool down yesterday.
